The exhibition spaces and dealer rooms are an ever-popular feature during the SF Ball. The Mezzanine floor is where you will find the latest merchandise, table-top games, models and exhibits. Merchandise available includes collectables, rare pre-loved goods and wonderful eclectic and geeky jewellery.
This year we are proud to present a vast array of exhibits from the world of Gerry Anderson. Specialist modellers will be exhibiting their amazingly realistic models of SHADO vehicles, including the Skydiver submarine and the Shado mobile.
Replica Gerry Anderson Puppets - Duncan Willis, the only person in the world who is licenced by ITV Ventures to make and sell replicas of puppets and puppet-scale props from every Supermarionation show ranging from Supercar 1960 through Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, Joe 90 to The Secret Service 1969.
Most of his puppets are cast from moulds with provenance to original puppet characters. He also sculpts Thunderbirds-style puppets to look like anyone and his work has been used by ITV's Daybreak making a puppet out of presenter Adrian Chiles and broadcaster Chris Evans for his FAB 1 Million charity.
Also the North Somerset Modellers Society will be with us. They will have displays featuring scratch built models from the universes of Gerry Anderson and Doctor Who. The display will feature many spaceships, Daleks and if we are lucky even the Bertie Basset Dalek may appear. Exterminate the Liquorice.
For those of who just want to know what the heck this Steampunk thing is all about there will be a programme of Steampunk entertainments during the day, notably tea duelling, presentations, and talks, by the Victorian Steampunk Society.
Tea duelling in all its rule encrusted glory. A series of epic confrontations will be staged throughout the weekend in the Steampunk arena and only the very finest duellists in the county will survive this toughest test of the gentlemanly art of dunking a biscuit.
The team from Coffee & Dice will be joining us bringing along their games collection for guests to play which includes everything from modern classics like Ticket to Ride and Carcassonne, through to the latest games like Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu and Codenames Pictures. Alongside a wide range of games for you to try, they'll also be on hand to teach any games you're not familiar with so you can avoid wading through a rulebook for an hour before you get to play!
Coffee & Dice will also be running big group social games like Werewolf and Two Rooms and a Boom throughout. These are great games for 15 to 60 people that last around 20 minutes and are a great way to get involved and meet new people. Coffee & Dice will get you up to speed on the rules in no time and you'll find yourself bluffing, questioning and negotiating with the other players as everyone around you tries to figure out who the werewolves are or where the president is…
Finally, if you're hankering to take home something new they'll have a great selection of games for you to buy.
